Bels beat Rangers – who now sit at the bottom of the Priaulx League table – 5-1 on Saturday afternoon and Le Friec said that this first win of the campaign was a relief for him and his players who have endured a difficult run of results.

‘The boys were fantastic, they showed energy, desire, determination right until the end, they wanted more goals,’ he said.

‘It was amazing, and for us as coaches all of the goals came from things that we worked on, and for them they saw the fruits of their labour. They have huge amounts of resilience having had a run of negative results so it was amazing.

‘The WhatsApp group has been a great place to be over the last few days.’

Bels went into Saturday’s bottom-of-the-table clash with one aim, according to their coach.

‘We wanted a statement win. Going into it we used the phrase “it has to be today”. We needed a statement win, we didn’t just want a scrappy 1-0,’ said Le Friec.

The Bels head coach said that he believes his side can continue to pick up more wins throughout the campaign.

‘We’re not going to stop there. I said to Ant [Austen] my assistant, at the end that it was just such an amazing feeling, I want another,’ said Le Friec.

Bels’ goals game from Jack O’Neil, Louis Pang, Callum Wallace and a brace from Bradley Foss.

Jaydon Winch scored for Rangers.

‘Everybody, even the keeper who had nothing to do, played their part to the end,’ said Le Friec.

‘Everyone played to their potential.’

Rovers have also jumped up the Priaulx League table to second after a 2-1 win over Sylvans at the weekend with goals from Ben Le Tocq and Luke Ogier.

Zac Batiste replied for Sylvans.
