Allen nets hat-trick as GFC beat Newhaven

Ross Allen hit a hat-trick as Guernsey FC extended their new year winning streak to four from four with a 5-1 victory away to Newhaven Town on Saturday.

GFC’s record goal-scorer got the ball rolling with the opener on 15min. and he doubled the lead just after the half-hour mark before Sam Murray put the Green Lions 3-0 up before half-time.

Ryan Blunt got a goal back for Newhaven, who started the day in fifth, early in the second half, but Murray quickly restored the three-goal cushion before Allen completed the scoring with a terrific finish in the 65th minute.

The Green Lions remain third in the Southern Combination Premier table, 11 points behind Steyning Town who come to Victoria Park on Saturday having played two games more.

Guernsey FC Women were also in action this weekend, falling to a narrow 3-2 home defeat against Bournemouth Sports Reserves.
