The match against Peacehaven & Telscombe will be on Saturday 23 May.

Further discussions between the club, their opponents and the SCFL board proved fruitful for the Green Lions, who had been shocked and angered when told early last week that the venue for the final was going to be reversed due to 'complex travel arrangements'.

The final had originally been scheduled for yesterday, Sunday 10 May, then moved to either tomorrow or Wednesday in the UK when the venue was changed for the first time.

However, GFC fought their corner having earned the right to host the final by virtue of finishing higher in the league table than Peacehaven & Telscombe, after the clubs had beaten Horsham YM and Haywards Heath Town respectively in the play-off semi-finals, and now a solution has been reached.

'From the unforgettable scenes of jubilation last Saturday to the frustration, disappointment and disbelief that followed, it has been an emotional rollercoaster for everyone connected with Guernsey FC,' said club director Nic Legg.

'But now our focus turns firmly towards what lies ahead.

'The countdown has begun to Guernsey FC’s first ever play-off final, and what an occasion it promises to be. A play-off final at Victoria Park in front of our island community is exactly what we set out to achieve when this season began.

'The players have earned this opportunity. Our supporters deserve this moment. Now it is time for the whole island to come together once again and turn Victoria Park into the fortress we all know it can be.

'There is something incredibly special about the prospect of competing for promotion on home soil. These are the occasions football is all about. The atmosphere, the emotion, the sense of community and togetherness. It has all the ingredients to become one of the most memorable afternoons in Guernsey FC’s history.'

Legg added that the club thanked their supporters for their backing following the league previous decision.

The play-off final on Saturday 23 May will kick off at 1.30pm at Victoria Park.

Ticket details and further information will be announced in due course via the club’s official channels.
