Launched in 2025, the league proved to be a landmark development for the women’s game locally, attracting strong participation and generating significant enthusiasm across the island.
In response to this momentum, the 2026 competition will expand to include a second division designed to widen access and encourage even greater involvement.
The newly introduced division will provide a more relaxed, social format of the game, aimed at those who are new to cricket or looking to enjoy the sport in a fun and welcoming environment.
Importantly, the format removes many of the traditional barriers to entry – there is no requirement for specialist equipment such as pads and helmets, and the emphasis is firmly on participation, enjoyment and community.
The expanded league also opens the door to a broader range of teams. Corporate groups, friendship groups, and families, including mums and daughters, are all encouraged to get involved.
In addition, Guernsey Cricket is actively inviting players from other sports, such as netball, rugby, football and hockey, to form teams and experience cricket in a supportive and sociable setting.
‘The success of last year’s Women’s Super League exceeded all expectations and clearly demonstrated the appetite for women’s cricket on the island,’ said Guernsey Cricket chief operating officer Richard Headington.
‘By introducing a second, more social division, we are creating an opportunity for even more women and girls to take part, regardless of experience or background.
‘This is about making cricket accessible, enjoyable and inclusive for everyone, whether you’re a complete beginner, returning to the game, or simply looking to have fun with friends, family or colleagues.’
Dame Mary Perkins for Specsavers added: ‘We are incredibly proud to continue our support of the Women’s Super League in Guernsey.
‘The growth of the competition in just one year has been fantastic to see, and the introduction of a new social division is a brilliant way to open the game up to even more women and girls across the island.
‘Supporting initiatives that promote participation, wellbeing and community is at the heart of what we do, and we are excited to see the league go from strength to strength in 2026.’
