New cricket development officer eager to get started

Kieran Squire has been appointed as the new Guernsey Cricket development officer.

He joins with an impressive background in sports development, youth coaching, coach education and community engagement, bringing more than a decade of experience working across schools, clubs and elite sporting environments.

An ECB Level 2 cricket coach and UEFA A Licence coach, Squire has developed a strong reputation for creating opportunities for young people to participate in sport, building sustainable player pathways and supporting coaches to deliver high-quality experiences.

‘I am incredibly excited to be joining Guernsey Cricket and becoming part of such a passionate cricket community,’ Squire said.

‘Cricket has the power to bring people together, create lifelong opportunities and make a real difference in people’s lives.

‘I look forward to working with schools, clubs, volunteers and players across the island to help grow participation, strengthen development pathways and ensure cricket remains accessible, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.’

His career has included coaching and coach development roles with West Bromwich Albion FC, the Football Association and Walsall FC, alongside extensive involvement in cricket development through schools and community programmes.

During his time with Cannock Cricket Club and Chance to Shine, Squire designed and delivered structured cricket programmes for players aged under-seven to under-15, helping to increase participation, strengthen links between schools and clubs, and create clear pathways for players to progress within the game.

He has also worked extensively in coach education, mentoring and developing coaches through continuing professional development programmes and workshops.

Squire is passionate about making cricket accessible to everyone and has a particular interest in growing participation among women and girls, supporting volunteers, and creating inclusive environments where people of all ages and abilities can enjoy the game.

In his role, he will work closely with schools, clubs, coaches, volunteers and community partners to help deliver Guernsey Cricket’s strategic objectives and continue the growth of the sport across the Bailiwick.
