Although they were facing a step four side, Vance made it clear his side were far from their best.
‘Not the result I wanted and not the performance I wanted either really,’ he said.
‘I thought we started off really slowly and we were lethargic and sloppy and that set the tone for the next 10 minutes. It looked like it was only an amount of time before they were going to score from us – we were so poor in that first-half and it cost us a game.
‘We’re a very open team but we have to do certain things then to nullify that openness and we weren’t doing them and we were just not connected in any way whatsoever.
‘There was too much apathy there and we got punished for that. We contributed to all three goals as well – that’s the worst thing about it. We contributed because we weren’t doing our principles. We spoke about that at half-time quite forcefully and the second-half we were better I thought.
‘We’ve come down with a bump now and we need to we need to not dust ourselves down, but recognise that’s not good enough.’
The Green Lions will have to quickly put this FA Cup defeat behind them and turn their focus to the FA Vase next weekend, but it could be that they will be without key player Charlton Gauvain, who limped off in the second-half.
‘He’s a key player for us, so that’s not ideal,’ Vance said.
‘We’ll get them back, don’t worry about that. I think that everyone’s hurting today so we need to move on quickly.’
