Data park wasteland: there as long as it takes

LONG PORT can take as much time as it likes to complete the Guernsey Data Park development, Environment has confirmed.

Its assurance that the development specialist will not be put under any pressure to finish the project comes after residents and parish officials revealed their anxiety over the lack of activity at the site.

Planners granted permission for the development on 10 May 2011 so questions have been raised about whether a standard three-year condition to start work would be activated.

But Environment confirmed that the amount of work undertaken during the last three years was sufficient to comply with that condition.

'The outline planning permission has therefore been implemented and will remain in perpetuity,' it said.

Long Port director Mark Ogier said it had made and continued to make significant progress on the Guernsey Data Park Project.
