Comedian John Bishop recalls time in Guernsey
COMIC John Bishop shared rib-tickling memories of Guernsey life and how he turned vegetarian while working locally, when he entertained hundreds of islanders at last night's sell-out gig.
All seats were filled and the car park was overflowing at Beau Sejour when just over 1,600 people enjoyed a night of comedy with the popular comedian and TV personality, who once lived and worked in Guernsey.
The Liverpudlian, who is well-known for his appearances on TV quiz A League of their Own, declared he liked Guernsey more than Jersey after sharing tales of life on the island, including the moment he turned vegetarian while working at the Ribshack takeaway some 29 years ago.
'I like Guernsey more,' he told the audience.
'I like the memories it has. I like the fact when I came here it changed my life.'
Earlier in the day, the sell-out comedian stood outside the Ribshack takeaway during his stay.
He tweeted a picture, with the words: 'In Guernsey outside the hamburger joint I worked in 29 (YES 29) years ago!!
'It's this place that made me a vegetarian.'
