Prisoners – and prison – are happy with e-burn
AN INNOVATIVE e-cigarette has been trialled in Guernsey Prison and has been well received by inmates.
Les Nicolles is the first institution to buy the e-burn devices, which have been specially designed for use in secure environments.
E-burn founder Darren Haley is a former prison officer in the UK.
His device is see-through, so nothing can be hidden inside, and has tamper-proof tape to ensure the nicotine liquid is not surreptitiously replaced with anything else.
He launched the business in February and Guernsey Prison was his first customer in April, after the device was approved by the States analyst.
Mr Haley said there had been very positive feedback from the local institution and 12 NHS trusts were also looking into using the device.
Prison governor Dave Matthews said the new product had gone down very well with prisoners.
