First ormering tide this Sunday

THE first of the year's ormering tides is on Sunday when a height of 1.6m metres is predicted for about 1pm.

Gathering of ormers is permitted only on the day of each new or full moon, and the two days following, between 1 January and 30 April.

It is an offence to take, land or possess ormers which are less than 8cm in breadth.

Senior Sea Fisheries officer Chris Morris said information relating to the gathering of ormers and the code of practice was available on page 73 of the 2016 tide tables.
