Bailiff Sir Richard Collas, who has been in the position of acting Lt-Governor, said Vice Admiral Corder and his wife very much hoped to join the island for this year's Liberation Day celebrations and a number of other occasions before becoming permanently resident in Guernsey at the beginning of June.
Vice Admiral Corder will be sworn in as the new Lt-Governor while still serving as the UK's military representative to Nato and the European Union.
He will leave this military post before moving to Guernsey full-time, but aims to visit the island for key dates while temporarily holding the two posts.
Sir Richard said he was delighted with the appointment and he looked forward to welcoming Vice Admiral Corder and his wife, Kathryn, to the island.
'It is unprecedented in modern times for a Lt-Governor still to be serving as a senior officer in one of the armed forces,' said Sir Richard. 'However, it will be beneficial that he takes up his new duties in advance of the general election to be held on 27 April.
'Whilst he continues to hold both posts, Vice Admiral Corder will spend as much time as possible in the Bailiwick.
'For example, he and Mrs Corder very much hope to be with us on Liberation Day and on a number of other occasions before they become permanently resident at the beginning of June.
'In the meantime, Vice Admiral Corder and I will share the duties and responsibilities of the Lt-Governor.'
