Pride of Guernsey: 'an invaluable source of help to friends and neighbours'
WHEN Liz Head met Andre Whiteway many years ago, he was her heating oil delivery man. But that soon grew into a friendship and he has gone above and beyond in helping the pensioner.
She said he deserves to be nominated at the Pride of Guernsey Neighbour of the Year, sponsored by Swoffers.
'At the same time as refurbishing a newly acquired garage, Andrew Whiteway continues to be an invaluable source of help to friends and neighbours, running errands and helping with household repairs,' Liz said.
'He is always there with a listening ear for those in need.'
Liz has seen first-hand how caring Andre can be – he helps her with transport and once even helped Liz get down to the south of France.
'He has helped in many ways,' she said.
'He gets prescriptions and is just a good neighbour, although he is not a direct neighbour. He does go above and beyond.'
