This year the ages range from Reception to Year 4, a much smaller spread than in previous years.

New Reception pupil Isabelle Taylor joined the school a few times last term to get a little taster of what was to come and even performed in the summer concert.

Isabelle's family moved to the island this year, when her dad Stephen became head chef at the Mermaid and mum Clare started work in the snack bar. Both Clare and Stephen worked on Herm several years ago and could think of no better place to raise their daughter.

This term, as well as their academic studies, the children will be having several 'Green Forest School' lessons, beginning with fire building in the woods. These lessons are designed to encourage children to have confidence and knowledge of the outdoors and to embrace practical skills.
