ESS proposes ‘affordable’ prescription charge rise
DESPITE a recommendation from the previous States to raise the prescription charge to £4.40, it would increase by just 2.6% – to £3.90 – under the latest proposals.

Employment & Social Security president Michelle Le Clerc said this was to protect those who were less able to afford an increase.
Throughout 2016 there were 1.5m. items prescribed, which cost the States £18.1m. before the £2.2m. paid in prescription charges by patients requiring the medication.
