ESS proposes ‘affordable’ prescription charge rise

DESPITE a recommendation from the previous States to raise the prescription charge to £4.40, it would increase by just 2.6% – to £3.90 – under the latest proposals.

Throughout 2016 there were 1.5m. items prescribed, which cost the States £18.1m. before the £2.2m. paid in prescription charges by patients requiring the medication.
