Already well over 100 islanders have had their names put forward in the 13 categories, which includes the newly-introduced award for customer service.

From parents and grandparents to parish heroes, angels and carers to teachers and those who have overcome adversity, yet again Guernsey has shown that there is no shortage of those who are regarded as unsung heroes for their hard work.

The Guernsey Press has run many of the nominations and over the coming weeks we will publish the remainder.

This will culminate in a special supplement in early August, when you will be able to see all of those who have been nominated.

After that it will be time to cast your vote.

Even if you have already nominated someone, if you want to see them on the awards shortlist it is vital that you vote for them too.

The three nominees with the most votes will be invited to the awards ceremony, where the winners will be announced.

The ceremony in October will again take place at the Guernsey Press offices, transformed for the night. Pride awards champions Andy and Jo Priaulx will present the awards, as they have done for the last two years.

Guernsey Press managing director Mark Lewis said: ‘Once again, the Guernsey community have highlighted individuals, teams and organisations across all the various categories. These nominations have all done something amazing and are a credit to the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

‘The public vote will narrow the nominations down to three per category and then the judges will decide the winner. Thankfully, I am not part of those judging panels as the decisions are always really tough.

‘These awards are what makes Guernsey so special. And whilst the Guernsey Press organise and publicise them, they are only possible with the continued support of our brilliant partners and sponsors’.
