On two separate occasions since the end of October, vehicles in and around Route Isabelle have had their windscreens, side windows or bodywork damaged in the middle of the night.

The latest incident was believed to have taken place on Wednesday and Thursday when several vehicles were damaged.

One victim, Brett le Lievre, said the damage has affected his business.

‘I came out to go to work and noticed the boulder on the floor and then the smashed windscreen,’ he said.

‘I use this van for work and I can’t drive it with the windscreen like this, so I’ve lost a day. The police can’t really do anything about it. I am guessing it’s just mindless vandalism.’

The first incident of vehicles being damaged was thought to have taken place around 25 October.

Resident Margaret Ferbrache said she was scared when she heard the noise of windows smashing.

‘They were youngsters, there must have been four or five of them, they were all laughing,’ she said.

‘It must have been around 3am, by the time I had woken up and realised what had happened they had run off. I live on my own and I didn’t want to open the door to have a look as they may have started throwing things at my house.’

Another resident, Peter Bowring, said both of his sons’ cars had been vandalised on the two different dates.

‘The police have said there isn’t really anything they can do – and it’s happening more and more down here,’ he said.

‘It’s really dark down here and there are no cameras. My son has thought about putting motion sensor cameras in the car as it’s the only way to catch them.

‘He has had to replace the windscreen, both side windows and they dented all the bodywork.’

The police are investigating both incidents and have asked anyone with information to contact them through 725111 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
