Victor Hugo and Sarnia School among suggestions for names of new school and colleges

It is just one of the names suggested for Guernsey's new 11-18 school and its two colleges from more than 600 responses to the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture's call for suggestions.

School name suggestions include: Bailiwick School, Guernsey School, L’Academie de Guernesiaise, L’Ecole Guernesiaise, Lisia School, Sarnia School, The Guernsey Academy and The School of Guernsey.

College names include Admiral James de Saumarez, Casquets. Daniel de Lisle Brock, Hanois, Major-General Sir Isaac Brock, Marjorie Ozanne, Maria Rosetti, Sibyl Hathaway and Victor Hugo

All suggestions will be reviewed by the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture before its makes the final decision on the names ahead of the end of this academic year.

The initiative was launched on Tuesday 2 April but people can still submit ideas online at www.gov.gg/nameourschool, by email at educationfuture@gov.gg and by writing to The Education Office, States of Guernsey, Sir Charles Frossard House, La Charroterie, GY1 1FH.
