The Higham family are in the island for two weeks on holiday from their home in Surrey, but ensured they packed their trowels along with their towels and plastering floats with the inflatable ones for their beach activities.
Yesterday, a local beachgoer, who was amazed by the family’s Grandes Rocques creations, advised the Guernsey Press to check out the quality of the work involved.
‘We built one at Cobo and it went down quite well. Lots of people saw it and some people were waving and cheering as they went past in their cars,’ said dad Dan Higham.
‘Then when we came to Grandes Rocques, we thought we’d make it bigger and better.
‘That is the plan, we’re here for two weeks so we plan to go bigger and better each day.
‘We’ve been picking nice beaches with great sand. I think we’d like to try out some of the southern beaches too.’
In addition to the eye-catching pyramids, Mr Higham has also been engaged in sand art, drawing designs below the high tide mark.
At Cobo, he drew a compass which accurately documented the beach's orientation.
