The 74th anniversary of Liberation Day is on Thursday and preparations are well under way.

Organisers would like to remind islanders that some areas of parking in Town will be closed in the lead-up to and during the day.

These include the Albert Pier, which will close on 7 May from 5pm, the Albany from 12pm on 8 May, Crown Pier and Castle Emplacement from 10pm on 8 May and the first three rows of parking on North Beach from 10pm on 8 May.

All pier parking will be open as normal once again on 10 May, apart from the Albert Pier, which will be closed for a further day due to a visiting cruise ship.

Drivers are being asked to ensure that their cars are removed from these areas before the set closure times in order to avoid vehicles being clamped and removed.

On the day, Salerie Corner and North Beach will be open and there will be limited parking on Castle Emplacement for boat owner access.

From 7am on Liberation Day, the seafront will be closed from the Weighbridge roundabout to Castle Emplacement, with the roundabouts at either end still open.

Due to this the whole bus terminus will be closed on 9 May and a temporary bus stop will be located at North Beach.
