In the early hours of yesterday morning [19 Feb 2020], police attended a domestic incident in Alderney and a 56-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He was later transferred to Guernsey and will be interviewed by officers today [20 Feb 2020], Chief Inspector Andrew Hockey said.

A 55-year-old female was treated in Le Mignot hospital in Alderney following the incident and was transferred to the Princess Elizabeth Hospital the same day.

'The 55-year-old female remains in the PEH in a stable condition,' CI Hockey said.

Additional police resources were deployed to Alderney in order to carry out the investigation.

The public had been reassured that this was just for 'necessary work' and Police were not looking for any further suspects, nor was there a wider risk to the community.
