Winning numbers announced for Christmas lottery

The winning amount of £696,740 was lower than the £1m. on offer for the last few years.

Second prize of £50,000 went to 2057515.

Another 60 prizes of between £500 and £2,500 were also drawn.

Ticket sales in Guernsey were up by more than 40% compared to 2019 following a reduction in the ticket price from £3 to £2.

Overall revenues were down.

‘The structure of the draw reflects feedback that we received,’ said Lottery manager Jon Taylor.

‘In a survey, more than 80% of respondents felt the ticket price should be reduced from £3 to £2, and that we should retain as many prizes as possible. That is what we have done, and the benefit of that is seen in the increase in ticket sales across the islands. Unfortunately, the increase in Jersey was not as high as anticipated, but that was perhaps to be expected given the ongoing Covid situation there. In Guernsey, we were up more than 40%, which is really heartening. It means overall we have a lot more islanders taking part in the lottery than in recent years.

‘Overall, revenues will be slightly down on 2019, due to the reduction in ticket price. However, the increased participation is something that hopefully we can now build on in future years.’

All local proceeds from the draw will help support worthy causes in the Bailiwick, and are distributed through the Social Investment Fund.
