It is expected to be completed in three days, with a digger already down on the beach picking up and moving rocks.
The States of Guernsey has commissioned civil engineering, marine construction and geotechnical services company Geomarine to do the work.
Operations director Gary Stephenson said it was a general maintenance repair.
‘We’re currently moving some rock armour around to protect the coastline and structures from erosion by the sea,’ he said.
‘There’s some minor repairs to the concrete apron at the bottom of the sea wall as part of the sea defence which has been undermined by the action of the sea. It can go on a lot round the island and we’re just keeping on top of that.’
