Samantha Ormrod has served the Guernsey Police since February 2014 and will be representing the island alongside 44 other forces at the nation-wide event.
‘It is a privilege and I am excited to be recognised,’ she said after receiving her medal.
‘Just to be part of the atmosphere is going to be once in a lifetime.’
Ms Ormrod volunteers for the Colour Party where she represents the island in full dress uniform, and she is also in the process of becoming a Sergeant.
‘It’s a challenging career but I absolutely love going to my job every day,’ she added.
‘My favourite part is speaking to members of the public and hopefully helping them out in their time of need.’
The Lt-Governor Lt-General Richard Cripwell presented Ms Ormrod with her medal.
‘I can’t think of anyone who deserves it more,’ he said.
‘This is your first medal of special occasion and I hope it is the first of many.’
The medals will be awarded to around 500 islanders later in the year as a token of thanks for their service.
This includes eligible personnel from the States’ Emergency Services, St John Emergency Ambulance Service and RNLI, along with the equivalent personnel in Alderney and Sark.
‘It is a wonderful thing to recognise services publicly,’ His Excellency said.
Chief Officer Ruari Hardy said it was important that Guernsey was represented in London.
‘It is important that we acknowledge the ceremony of Her Majesty’s Jubilee,’ he said.
‘The medal is really important because it acknowledges a minimum of five years of public service by the Blue Light Public Services.’
It was important to remember that the Emergency Services would also be working throughout the Jubilee Weekend, he added.
