Macauley Tulie said a pair of his oars was lost during the incident, which will cost him more than £100 to replace.

‘I was disappointed to receive a phone call from a friend, who also has a boat in the bay, to say he could see that my dinghy had been sunk by some teenagers while they were swimming and jumping from the pier,’ said Mr Tulie.

‘Unfortunately this happens a few times a year.

‘A minority of young people that use the beach seem to have no regard for the belongings of others. It is really sad to see.’

Mr Tulie posted on social media and other islanders reported there had been more damage to dinghies on Sunday, with one being ‘smashed to bits’.

‘If you have kids that play at the pier at Les Amarreurs could you teach them to respect other people's property?’ said Mr Tulie on the social media website.

Martin Domaille is the constable for the Les Amarreurs moorings committee.

‘We do get things like this happening sometimes at this time of the year and kids should really know better,’ he said.

‘Beaches are supposed to be here for everybody to use, and it is a shame that these sorts of things have been happening.

‘The people doing things like this just need to show a little bit more respect.’
