Birds will not be exhibited due to the outbreak of avian flu, but pigs, horses, cows, sheep, goats and donkeys will be making an appearance.

Entries were submitted at the show's drop-in, with more cattle farmers than usual involved.

‘The children always love it, they don’t get to see much of that sort of thing anymore,’ said honorary show president Rodney Dyke.

Mr Dyke takes six of his donkeys along to the show each year, and said there had been a good number of entries for the other exhibits.

‘The bigger animals will be in the shade and smaller animals in marquees. We will drop the sides down and the roof gives them shade. They will have lots of water and we check that they are topped up. They are used to it really – they are always out in the sunshine.’

Entry and show details

Entries for tented exhibits, which includes baked goods, art and vegetables, will be accepted this Saturday at St Peter’s Community Hall from 10am to 6pm.

The entry form can be found at on the show’s website https://bit.ly/3JNv2GP

The show is on Wednesday and Thursday next week with tickets available on the gate. Single day tickets are £7 for adults and £4 for juniors aged between five and 15 years old. Children under five get in for free.

There are discounted rates for two-day tickets and advance purchases.
