The total haul of five golds saw the Sarnians more than double their existing tally from these Games.
This included Rose Ogier making history by striking women’s singles gold in the first Island Games lawn bowls competition.
As if that were not enough, she claimed a second gold alongside Julie Williams in the women’s pairs at the Kirkwall Bowling Club.

Over at the Pickaquoy Centre, the fairytale story of Nic Ackermann – who squeezed into the team at the last possible qualifying opportunity – reached another huge development when he secured Guernsey’s first track gold of the Games.
That feat came over the 400m hurdles and only heightened his enthusiasm for the biennial sporting spectacle.
‘It’s even better than I could have thought,’ he said.
‘It’s such an awesome event and something that I love to be a part of.
‘I wish more people could experience it. It’s so awesome, from the opening ceremony to just being with our team spirit – we’ve got such a good culture in the Guernsey team.
‘Everyone’s supporting each other.’
Vicky Hancock’s long jump gold was another tale entirely as she went in with the pressure of being reigning champion and yet shook it off to produce an incredibly consistent series of results.
Following her fantastic opening day in the nearby pool, Chloe Bown brought in the sole Sarnian gold of last evening’s swimming finals.
Her 200m individual medley victory brought her personal tally of golds to three – four including relays.
On the track, 1,500m runner Chris Bain and 400m hurdler Darcey Hodgson came away with silvers.
Tatiana Tostevin, Bown, Oriana Wheeler and their women’s medley relay team brought a stream of silvers in the pool, while distance swimmer Delphine Riley got her hands on a maiden Games bronze.
On a scenic hilltop looming above the busiest sports area of this Games, Mark Le Page had a near-miss with his own medal in the mountain bike criterium but ultimately ended up leading Guernsey’s new-look squad to a team silver.
In archery, Lisa Gray and Jason Le Page bagged a bronze in the mixed recurve head-to-head team knockout after losing out in their semi-final to Jersey.
