The changes come after it was announced the island’s CEO Craig Senior was set to leave his role and the island after nearly seven years in post.

Herm leaseholder John Singer will be stepping in as acting CEO and yesterday announced the new management team.

‘Herm is lucky to have such a competent group of leaders able and willing to step in and collaborate as a team to manage our precious little island,’ said Mr Singer.

‘We have had valuable leadership from our former CEO, Craig Senior, over the past six years, and wish him every success in his future endeavours.

'But we must now look forward and ensure Herm remains sustainable and available to all who cherish its unique beauty, and benefit from everything the island has to offer.’

Mr Jones is the longest-serving resident and employee of the island. His role has been extended to oversee the hotel, holiday cottages, campsites, tavern, shops and beach cafes.

He has been part of the Herm team for nearly 18 years and is a familiar face to many visitors, having formerly managed the Mermaid Tavern for 16 years.

James Hastings, another long-term resident, is part of the new management structure. He moved to Herm with his family in 2010 as the island builder and was promoted to technical services manager in 2020, heading up the team which manages, maintains and develops the island’s infrastructure.

Other members of the new Herm management board are head of finance Michael Fletcher, marketing and PR manager Kate Evans, hotel general manager Shaun McDonald and sales and reservations manager Anne Devenport.
