Now officially the island's longest-running food festival, it started life as a means of providing people with affordable meals across a range of different restaurants and other eateries.

Launched by Hamilton Brooke in 1998, the organisers said that the aim remained the same – to allow people to enjoy memorable meals at top premises in the islands while supporting the food and hospitality industry – even if the prices have had to move with the times.

While menus used to be available in a printed tabloid-style form, last year they went online only for the first time.

The organisers said that this year there were also promotions across social media and Google ads, all of which are aimed at making it easy for people to explore menus and make a booking.

Among many of the restaurants back for another year is Balthazar. Manager Steve Le Poidevin was delighted to see the festival return.

‘This event allows us to connect with food lovers, offering an exceptional dining experience at accessible prices.

‘It’s a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the island’s culinary excellence.’

There are 41 establishments taking part in Tennerfest this year across the islands and the event runs for two months, from 1 October to 30 November, with menus and more information at Tennerfest.com
