Ed and Sid Robilliard wanted to do something in memory of their dad James, who died at the end of August. Their cake sale takes place on Saturday afternoon at Shiloh Church, Landes du Marche, from 2-4pm.

‘The boys said they’d like to do something for daddy,’ said James’s mum and the twins' grandmother, Hayley Bull.

‘We thought something simple, something small to start with for the first thing we do.’

But numerous people, including friends, family and the congregation from Shiloh, have offered to help bake cakes.

Initially they were going to hold the bake sale at home, but after such a good response from the community it has moved to the church.

The family has also been offered raffle prizes and that will be run as part of the cake sale. All funds raised will go to the Brain Tumour Charity.

‘I’m just doing it for James, it keeps me positive and occupied and I just want to do something for him,’ said Mrs Bull.

She said that the church had been happy to allow the family to do whatever they need.

‘We put it on Facebook a couple of weeks ago and we just had such an amazing response.’

A seizure James suffered in 2020 revealed a brain tumour.

He underwent a number of operations as the tumour returned twice.

Despite his medical issues, he remained a very positive person.

He was nominated and shortlisted for this year’s Pride of Guernsey Awards.
