DFDS, the island’s sole ferry operator, confirmed its winter ferry schedule this week up until 10 January.
It said that due to lower passenger numbers during the winter season, it will temporarily pause its high-speed Poole sailings with Levante Jet between November and 30 April.
Tarifa Jet will go to dry dock in November and Levante Jet will cover the St Malo service.
Following Tarifa Jet’s return, Levante Jet will lay up until it returns to run the peak summer schedule for the Jersey-Poole route.
Tarifa Jet will provide additional sailings to Poole over the Easter period.
Jersey route director Chris Parker said the winter timetable was designed to meet demand and would have more capacity than previous Condor Ferries schedules between the island, UK and France.
‘Between November and March we will be offering capacity for up to 77,000 passengers to travel between Jersey and the UK, and up to 134,000 passengers between Jersey and France, well above the historical demand for these services over the winter,’ he said.
‘We understand that this decision will impact islanders and disappoint some travellers, and we are sorry about the inconvenience this will cause.
'We are focusing on delivering a long-term sustainable service for Jersey, including investment in future tonnage for the island.’
The two Bailiwicks diverged in ferry operators earlier this year, with Guernsey selecting Brittany Ferries.
Last month it published its schedules right up until November 2026, which include a couple of weekly fast ferry sailings between the island and the UK, alongside conventional ferry sailings.
There will also be several services a week between Guernsey and St Malo over the winter, despite the port only having one berth while upgrading work is carried out.
