While it may still be autumn, it is only 86 days until Christmas.
This year’s top lottery prize will be at least £300,000. This will rise as sales increase. The traditional draw game also includes 67 cash prizes, along with more than £500,000 in instant prizes.
The main draw takes place in Jersey at 6pm on Thursday 18 December and will also celebrate the Channel Islands Lottery’s 50th anniversary.
All Guernsey proceeds are distributed to local charities through the Social Investment Fund.
‘In its 50th year, the CI Lottery has supported key community events such as the Island Games, Liberation Day festivities, local leisure facilities and countless local charities over the years,' said Jon Taylor, head of the lottery in Guernsey.
The Christmas Lottery, together with all our instant lottery games, has raised tens of millions across the islands for charities and worthy causes since its inception in 1975.'
Mr Taylor said the lottery operators had introduced lots more instant and main draw prizes in recent years, meaning more chances to win, while the ticket price had remained at £2.
‘Ultimately, the aim is to generate funds for worthy causes but we’re also conscious of keeping the ticket price as affordable as possible and making as many winners as we can with the prize fund available to us,’ said Mr Taylor.
Guernsey Post will be the main distribution agent in Guernsey.
Businesses, clubs and groups of friends or family can purchase syndicate tickets online through www.cilottery.org. Delivery is available and this new initiative is designed to make life as simple as possible for syndicate organisers.
‘Both distribution agents in each island have offered syndicate ticket sales previously and will continue to do so, but being able to purchase online through a
secure web page makes life so much easier for syndicate customers,’ said Mr
Taylor.
As well as the main lottery draw game, the Extravaganza scratch card game will be launched at the same time, with 33,600 cash prizes available.
CI Christmas Lottery tickets are on sale throughout the Channel Islands from tomorrow.
