The closure was announced via the live music bar’s social media channels on Saturday morning, which invited customers and performers to come together for an ‘epic final jam’ before it closed.
The Italian Job Pizza House, which was also run from the venue, has also closed.
The Vault opened its doors in 2014 and has been a well-loved live music bar for both performers and customers. It changed ownership in July.
The new owners could not be contacted yesterday.
The Vault’s closure leaves The Yacht as the only pub in town that is dedicated to live music, with The Pit at St James being the only other real venue for local and visiting performers.
‘It’s a shame, there are not that many spots for electric musicians, there are some good little places for acoustic performers, but for bands there are not that many places to perform with all the equipment that you need and all the bells and whistles,’ said Nat Eker-Male, lead singer of Guerns of the Galaxy.
‘Lots of bands are now just getting booked for private events and the big public events like the shows.’
Mr Eker-Male said the closure would have an impact on Guernsey’s live music scene.
‘With open mic nights it was a space that was great to get your first performance, so it will be impactful,’ he said.
‘Having a live music venue in the heart of town is something that is needed, so it’s a real shame.’
Stuck to the Ceiling’s Stace Blondel said that he was gutted to see The Vault close.
He said it had been one of his favourite venues to play.
‘I’ve played in around seven or eight bands at The Vault over the years, and the audiences were either there out of intention or curiosity but either way it would normally be a great night,’ he said.
‘We will miss having The Vault – its variety of music and its great staff who just got our music.’
Mr Blondel said that there were now few places for Guernsey’s musicians to perform at.
‘With old haunts like the White Hart and Pieces closing in the last decade or so and now The Doghouse and The Vault, Guernsey has very few places to cater for the multitude of musical talent this island has to offer.
‘We are lucky to have the Yacht, the Fermain Tavern and the Mariners to name three, but how long will these venues continue?’
