The market has taken place every other Saturday morning for the last 20 years from the Garden Centre, and was going before that from Fairfield since around the time of the turn of the millennium.

The last farmers’ market at Le Friquet will be held this coming Saturday.

It will move to the church from 31 January 2026.

‘It has been really successful, we have all enjoyed doing it,’ said Jan Roberts, churchwarden at Ste Marie du Castel.

‘One of our key aims was that it is all environmentally friendly and locally produced, which we have done.’

The move to the church will make it a lot easier for the volunteers who run the farmers’ market.

‘It will be a lot easier in the church for the set up and suppliers can deliver straight to the church rather than our volunteers having to go round collecting everything,’ said Mrs Roberts.

‘There is the added bonus in running the farmers’ market from the church is that we will now be able to serve refreshments and make it more of a community event.’
