The Met Office forecast prompted police to issue a potential red win warning with the possibility of severe gale force winds.

Storm Goretti is the first named storm of 2026 and classified as a ‘multi-hazard event’ because it is expected to bring a combination of heavy snow, gale-force winds, and torrential rain to areas across northern France, England and Wales.
Jersey Met is currently forecasting Thursday evening to begin with heavy rain and strong southerly winds between force 6 to 7, which will then veer west, bringing winds between gale force 8 to severe gale force 9.
