Its organising committee is on a quest to find a new major sponsor, and has decided to do so through its headline sponsorship competition, which proved highly popular when it launched for the first time last year.
It invites 50 local businesses, charities or individuals to pledge £250 each. One of them will be drawn at random on 6 May, and will receive a package worth significantly more than their initial pledge. Last year, tickets sold out.
‘We were really pleased with the uptake from last years’ competition,’ said Josh Cotran-Gabriel, vice-president and show manager.
‘It was a really great way to support 50 local businesses, as well as having them support the charity to put on the show.
‘The show takes a lot of time and and energy to put on and, of course, funds. So it was an innovative idea to raise that money, while charities and businesses don’t have to fork out an awful lot of money, they certainly see their return in terms of exposure.
‘It’s open to everyone and anyone. Citizens Advice Guernsey won last time and they were chuffed to bits, so we’re very pleased to be able to do it again.’
The chairwoman of Friends of Citizens Advice Guernsey, Eleanor Round, said that she would highly recommend charities and businesses to put their name forward.
‘It was wonderful to see the charity gain such meaningful exposure and awareness, especially throughout such an iconic summer staple in the Guernsey calendar,’ she said.
‘The charity shop had a stall, and the staff and volunteers really enjoyed being involved, chatting to people about the work Citizens Advice Guernsey does. It really helped to raise our profile within the community.’
All businesses which support the competition will be advertised during the ever-popular show, which is set to take place on Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 August.
