As a consultant anaesthetist, Dr Peter Rabey returned to the island of his birth to take on the role in November 2015 and joined the corporate management team at Health & Social Care. He had previously worked as deputy medical director and responsible officer for one of England’s largest NHS Trusts.

‘As I prepare to retire from my role as medical director, I find myself looking back with deep gratitude for the years I’ve spent serving our community,’ he said.

‘It has been an immense privilege to work alongside so many dedicated colleagues and to contribute to the development of healthcare services that I’m sure will continue to develop long after my departure.

‘The challenges we’ve faced together, and the progress we’ve made, have shaped me both professionally and personally. It has been an honour to hold this position in the island of my birth.

‘Stepping away now feels like the right moment. For me, this transition offers the chance to pursue all my other interests, and more time to spend with my family and enjoying our beautiful island.’
