Grow’s craft market is an Easter treat

LOCAL craft, plants and other products made by Grow crew members were on show at the charity’s craft sale on Saturday.

As well as everything you would usually find at Grow, coastal-themed homeware, vibrant stationery and eye-catching prints were available for people to buy at the fundraising event on Saturday morning.

‘We’ve got some amazing stall holders,’ said organiser Sarah van Zanten.

‘The greenhouse is full of plants and the Potting Shed, which is our new shop, has things that our crew members have made in the workshop for sale.’

As well as things to buy there was family entertainment including face-painting, and with the craft sale falling on Easter weekend, the Easter bunny made an appearance to meet attendees.

There was a steady flow of people coming through the greenhouse on Saturday morning.

‘It’s going really well, sometimes it has been a bit quiet as we are competing with the Breton market today, but there has been a steady flow of people,’ said Ms van Zanten.

The event was one of many events that FrOGs – a group that helps raise funds to support Grow – puts on throughout the year.

‘It’s the backbone of what we do,’ said Ms van Zanten.

‘It helps with operational costs, for running the greenhouse, and we also employ the crew members so that they get a wage, so events like this are vital for us, and we really appreciate everyone who comes out to supports us at these events.’

On 18 April, Grow will be hosting another market, but with a focus on street food, as part of the Big Eat festival.

As well as food vendors, there will be a potting corner for children to go and pot their own herbs and decorate plant pots.
