30 Rides in 30 Days ready to hit the road for an 18th year

Cyclists are being challenged to get back on the saddle for the ever-popular 30 Rides in 30 Days fundraiser next month, to support Les Bourgs Hospice on its 35th anniversary.

Organised and sponsored once again by Ian Brown and his cycle shop, the enduring event, which sees participants ride their bike for an hour a day for 30 consecutive days, will roll throughout May.

Setting off on Saturday 2 May, it will finish on the last day of the month, coinciding with the Rocque to Rock Cycle Ride.

Over the past 18 years, the challenge has seen 642 riders; 41,670 individual rides; 587,250 miles cycled and £1,179,956 raised for the hospice.

‘30 Rides in 30 Days is one of those events that truly embodies the spirit of Guernsey,’ said Rob Jones, chief executive officer of Les Bourgs Hospice.

‘It brings people together, challenges them personally, and delivers an extraordinary impact for our charity.

‘The funds raised continue to make a real difference to the care we provide to islanders and their families. As we celebrate 35 years of Les Bourgs Hospice in 2026, we are enormously grateful to everyone who takes part, sponsors a rider, or supports the event in any way.’

Riders are encouraged to strive for a fundraising target of £900, either as an individual or as a team of up to four.

‘I’m really looking forward to celebrating Les Bourgs’ 35th anniversary year with the 30 Rides in 30 Days event and to meeting up with both past participants and new riders who are taking part for the first time,’ said Mr Brown.

‘As in all previous years, we’re keeping everything crossed that we raise a substantial amount of money for the wonderful hospice.’

With 50 riders already registered, organisers are hopeful for record-breaking participation on this landmark year.

Nick James, director of group services at Specsavers, said the company was proud to continue its backing for the event. ‘This challenge represents commitment, teamwork and community spirit – values that align strongly with our own,’ he said.
