Ms Booth has been volunteering in the arts community for about 20 years, alongside her job in the island’s finance industry.

She worked as a client director and senior manager, specialising in governance and sustainability, and chaired the Sustainable Finance Guernsey Council.

She has also been a member of the board of Guernsey Arts and has chaired its grants and governance committees. She has also held voluntary roles as sponsorship director for the Guernsey Literary Festival and as chair and committee member of CineGuernsey.

‘I’ve volunteered in the Guernsey arts community for the last 20 years and I have a passion for art,’ said Ms Booth.

‘I saw an advert in the Press when Guernsey Arts were looking for someone to join the grants committee and I was successful. That was in 2018.

‘I didn’t even think about applying for this role until I realised I could use all the skills from my volunteering and previous roles. It’s an amazing job and why would you not want to use your skills to have a positive impact on the Bailiwick of Guernsey?’

Ms Booth said that one of her ambitions was to strengthen cultural diplomacy.

‘We have amazing links with Normandy for the Year of the Normans [for 2027], with Brussels and Puglia, and a part of my role will be looking at how we can build on those connections,’ she said.

‘We want to put Guernsey on the international stage.’

She also said that the arts were an enabler, whether it be for people to tell their stories, or for the economy.

Ms Booth will be shadowing Russ Fossey until he retires later this month after 10 years in the role with Guernsey Arts.

‘I am delighted Rebecca is stepping in – I couldn’t think of anyone better,’ he said.

‘This is the best job, and I have got so much enjoyment from helping artists to succeed to be the best they can be and see them achieve their goals.’
