The walk, organised by mental health charity Guernsey Mind, will take place on Sunday 21 June – the longest day of the year. Starting at 4am from Vale Castle, the gentle 6km walk will follow the island’s east coast to the bathing pools.
‘The Sunrise Walk of Hope is a deeply meaningful event for so many in our community,’ said Amanda Hibbs from Guernsey Mind.
‘Seeing people come together at such an early hour, united in reflection and support, is incredibly powerful. Every step taken helps raise awareness and enables us to continue providing essential support to those affected by suicide.’
Individuals, families and friends of all ages and abilities are invited to walk at their own pace, taking the time to remember loved ones.
Hannah Hurley from Gower Financial Services said the company was proud to be the main sponsor again.
‘Raising awareness around suicide and mental health has never been more important, and we’re honoured to stand alongside Guernsey Mind in helping to continue that conversation,’ she said.
Vive La Vallette and Guernsey Guides will provide refreshments at the finish line. Registration costs £10 per person and is open now.
