Alliance and Iceland team up for Food Warehouse in St Martin’s

Early-bird shoppers heading to the grand opening of the new The Food Warehouse in Grande Rue, St Martin’s, today will see giveaways and in-store promotions, with a chance to win a Citroen Ami.

The store, on Grande Rue, marks a further expansion of Iceland’s presence on the island in partnership with local retailer Alliance and is expected to create 25 new jobs.

The first 100 customers through the doors will receive a £5 voucher and shoppers will have the chance to take part in a ‘Spin the Wheel’ competition, with prizes on offer including freezer bundles and £700-worth of vouchers. Visitors will also be invited to enter a social media competition to win the Citroen Ami on display in‑store by scanning a QR code via Facebook or Instagram. The competition runs until 31 May.

The store marks a further expansion of Iceland’s presence on the island in partnership with local retailer Alliance and is expected to create 25 new jobs.

‘It is an important moment for Iceland Foods and reflects the ongoing strength of our partnership with Alliance,’ said Justin Addison, international and partnerships director at Iceland Foods.

‘The addition of a second The Food Warehouse allows us to broaden our offer and enhance convenience for customers across the island, building on the strong performance of our existing stores. We’re excited to welcome the local community to the new store.’

The Food Warehouse was introduced in 2014, with stores often double the size of traditional Iceland stores and designed to look like a warehouse, with wide shopping aisles, large spaces and a wider range of goods, including popular brands such as TGI Fridays, Gregg’s, MyProtein, Cathedral City and Harry Ramsden’s. The first Guernsey Food Warehouse opened in Braye Road last year.

Senior store manager Micael Feijao was looking forward to leading the new St Martin’s store: ‘We’ve assembled a fantastic team of colleagues who are committed to serving and supporting the local community. We also have an exciting programme of opening week activities planned that we’re confident our community will thoroughly enjoy,’ he said.

Keiran Poole, operations director at Alliance, said this marks the company’s third partnership in Guernsey and sixth across the Channel Islands to date.

‘This store has been carefully developed with the local community in mind. Alongside all your Iceland favourites, it will also feature multiple concessions, one of which is a beers, wines and spirits offering – The St Martin Cellar.

‘With further store openings planned this year, we believe this location will set the benchmark for future developments.’
