Rock to Rocque Cycle Ride is aiming for 600 entrants

Organisers of the Rock to Rocque Cycle Ride are looking for 600 entrants this year for a bumper fundraiser for Les Bourgs Hospice.

The ride takes place on Sunday 31 May.

Last year 435 took part, and organisers have set an ambitious target for this year, the first year where the ride will have been sponsored by Zedra and the 35th anniversary of the opening of the hospice.

‘We are thrilled to sponsor the Rock to Rocque and support Les Bourgs and their 35th year anniversary. The charity is so important to the Guernsey community, and we are happy to be a part of the fundraising helping Les Bourgs achieve their goals,’ said Zedra managing director Elaine Kennedy.

The ride begins at the top of Val des Terres at 9am, riding through St Martin’s and Forest before heading out to Rocquaine and along the west coast, and finishing at North Beach. A shorter option starts at 11am from Grandes Rocques.

The day also marks the finale of Ian Brown’s 30/30 Cycle Challenge, whose riders traditionally join the route in their distinctive jerseys, creating a colourful wave of cyclists along the seafront.

Sign-ups will be available on the day, but registration can be made online through the Les Bourgs Hospice website. Entry costs £15 for adults, £5 for under-18s, or £30 for a family.
