Rock to Rocque is a fun, non-competitive cycling event for family and friends, designed to encourage everyone to get out and enjoy a ride around the island. With two starting points, the event caters for all ages and cycling abilities. The first starting point was at the top of the Val des Terres for the 23-mile route, and a couple of hours later, cyclists doing the nine-mile route set off from Grandes Rocques.
‘It’s an amazing atmosphere here today, we have a mix of ages and bikes and abilities,’ said Les Bourgs Hospice fundraising and communications manager Liz Stonebridge,
‘We have many more families and groups taking part this year which is great to see,’ said Ms Stonebridge.
‘Some people have been doing this for years and for some people it well end up being the start of them changing their commuting habits.’
The annual event attracted families, groups and clubs as well as individuals.
It was also the culmination of the 30/30 Cycle Challenge, which sees riders cycle once a day for 30 days.
‘That is our biggest fundraiser and it is vital. Every year it goes from strength to strength,’ said Ms Stonebridge. She thanked Rock to Rocque sponsor Zedra, who also volunteered some staff to help with the organising of the day and marshalling around the course.
