On Wednesday 10 June from 11am, volunteers will be at the centre helping islanders of all ages to get their hands dirty and start planting, or just come to glean some tips for growing at home.
‘The centre is a vibrant home for the local community and we are delighted to be hosting this planting session to be a part of the Big Green Week,’ said centre manager Sarka Lee.
‘We’re inviting everyone in the community to come together for a fun and friendly session planting outside our cafe, where you can plant up your own pot, pick up free flower and vegetable seeds and take home plants to nurture and grow.
‘You will get a chance to meet neighbours and enjoy a relaxed community morning and it’s a lovely opportunity for people to come together, get involved, and take something green home with
them.’
The Great Big Green Week is an annual nation-wide event organised by the Climate Coalition, founded as a celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.
