The GSPCA said it had received reports of multiple sightings of Elvis around the Bridge area, stating that he appears to be not only surviving, but thriving.
He was first spotted last February in Grandes Maisons Road, by the Bluchip car dealership, where staff called him Elvis due to his sudden rise to fame.
It is thought he came over in the back of a Ferryspeed lorry.
GSPCA manager Steve Byrne said Elvis appeared to be healthy, active, and extremely fast, disappearing by the time witnesses have got out their phones to take a picture.
‘After a long period without any reports, many people wondered what had happened to him, so it has been amazing to receive several sightings over the last week from around St Sampson’s. Everyone reporting him has said he looks very healthy and is incredibly fast,’ said Mr Byrne.
‘As far as we are aware, Elvis remains the first and only squirrel to live wild in Guernsey, certainly in living memory. Guernsey simply doesn’t have a native squirrel population, which makes every sighting particularly unusual and exciting.
‘He has become a bit of a local celebrity and many people have followed his story since he first arrived. It is remarkable that after all this time he continues to evade capture and appears to be doing so well.’
After arriving in Guernsey in last year, there were sightings of Elvis into March and April, but he has been living on the down-low ever since, surviving incidents such as Storm Goretti.
Due to his strong and healthy physique, Mr Byrne said it is possible someone captured Elvis last year and had been keeping him as a pet, and he either recently escaped or was released.
‘Squirrels are not the shyest of creatures, yet Elvis has been running away quickly,’ he said.
‘And he’s the healthiest squirrel I’ve ever seen.’
Due to Elvis being classed as an invasive species, the States is responsible for his future in the island, if he can be caught.
With the GSPCA being an animal welfare charity, Mr Byrne said it would not be involved unless Elvis was sick or injured, but it would like to hear from anyone who has seen him.
Any sightings of the squirrel should be reported to the GSPCA, with as much detail as possible.
Information should include the location, date, time and, if possible, photographs.
