Jamie Patterson-Smith, 24, a visitor to the island from Sheffield, admitted both matters when he appeared in the Magistrate’s Court from custody.
He also admitted using threatening behaviour towards officers and resisting officers in the due execution of their duties.
The court was told how police had had to use a spit guard, bite guard, and leg restraints during the incident.
The defendant had only been in the island a few hours when officers were called to Cobo and he was arrested, the court heard.
Sentencing was deferred until September so a probation report could be prepared. There was no application for bail.
