‘I believe entries are coming in well,’ said Karl Marshall, sandracing chairman.
‘We do King of the Beach for the bikes, which is a prestigious trophy that’s been handed out for years and that’s held over two days of racing. The one with the most points wins the trophy, which is actually a crown.
‘The cars have got a trophy called the Victoria Trophy which is over the distance of 15 laps. It is a handicap race so the slower cars go first, so sometimes you’ve got a couple of laps to go before you can actually try and win it – it’s a very hard race.’
The two-day meet will have more races than in previous years due to meetings being cancelled earlier in the season.
‘Unfortunately we had a couple of meetings cancelled due to not being able to get medics, which is unfortunate, but I think everybody’s been affected by it, so we’re playing catch up at the moment and putting extra races on,’ said Mr Marshall.
‘We put on extra races last meet and we’re going to do the same this weekend.’
