Dance company planning encore after sell-out debut

The debut performance of the newly-founded Lisia Dance Company was a sell-out.

The company was set up last month to offer current and former local dance students the opportunity to perform to local audiences.

The group was inspired by Ballet d’Jerri, which has been established as Jersey’s national ballet.

‘There was an amazing energy in the room when the lights first came on, you could feel that everyone was very excited,’ said Hannah Langlois, one of three who set up the company.

‘We received an incredible response after the show, the foyer was buzzing for quite a while afterwards.’

The performance came together across more than 20 hours of rehearsals in the week leading up to the single show.

‘We are so grateful to the Performing Arts Centre for helping us have such a successful launch, and to the three dancers, Katie Luxon, Ellie Hicks and Claudia Wallace, who joined us and committed so much time and energy to creating Land & Sea,’ she added.

Lisia Dance Company is planning an encore performance of the show in the autumn, and then looking at a new performance for winter.
