Ladies’ College celebrates ‘outstanding’ set of GCSE results

There were lots of smiling faces at the Ladies’ College yesterday morning as the school achieved another set of excellent results.

Every single student passed both their maths and English exams and 46% of all grades were 8s or 9s – equivalent to an A*. A total of 65% were grades 9-7, which in the old grading system would be A*-A. Sixteen students received all A*-A grades.

‘They’ve done amazingly, and achieved some outstanding results,’ said principal Daniele Harford-Fox.

‘This year’s results are a moment to celebrate, but they’re only a chapter in each student’s story. What excites me most is seeing the kind, brave and brilliant young women they are becoming. Every one of their voices is so unique and it’s such a pleasure to see them carve their own paths.’

Ms Harford-Fox said that the vast majority of students were staying on at the college’s sixth form.

‘It’s interesting to see how diverse their interests are. Many of our girls are opting to study science, technology, engineering and maths at A-level and university, often subjects that have traditionally been male-dominated,’ she said.

‘Within the last year the girls have been conducting research on genetics, programming robots, building apps, and presenting on climate and environmental change. And that’s before you get to all their debating, leadership and work with industries.

‘They bring such curiosity, determination and joy to what they do – I’m very proud of them.’

Sophie Jehan achieved some good results, with 8s in two of her chosen subjects, geography and PE.

‘I’m going to carry on with sixth form and do chemistry, economics and PE and at the minute I want to go into finance after,’ she said.

Claudia Bailey achieved a mix of grades 4-7. ‘I’m very happy,’ she said. She is staying on at Ladies’ College to study psychology, business and PE at A-level.
