Campbell returns as new flanker
THE Footes Lane crowd will do a double-take tomorrow when Guernsey's captain returns to the helm.
Blair Campbell will be leading out the green-and-whites against Bury St Edmund's on his return from a fractured hand, but he will do so not in his usual No. 12 shirt, but wearing No. 6 instead.
'BC is coming back from injury, but we already have a pretty decent backline with Jim Elliott and Luke Sayer coming back also while we are going to be missing Nick Barton from the back row,' said GRFC head coach Jordan Reynolds explaining that 'there is method behind the madness'.
'BC is one of the strongest defenders we have and his work-rate is huge, so you could look at it and say it's an odd selection, but for what we are trying to achieve both defensively and in attack, it's the best fit for us for this game.'
Barton is out with the recurrence of a hamstring injury and he is joined on the sidelines by Malcolm Barnes, who dislocated his shoulder during last week's 17-15 win at Amersham & Chiltern.
Bury St Edmunds are currently flying high in the table in second place with five wins to their name.
Guernsey v. Bury St Edmunds kicks off at 2pm.
